Broadband for the Rural North (B4RN - known as "Barn") is a professional internet service provider working with the local community to bring full fibre connectivity to the whole area.
Set up as a Community Benefit Society, it is owned by the community and any profit B4RN makes is fed back to the community.
B4RN aims to keep prices low - £33 a month for domestic users (as of 28th March 2024). It gives everyone in the community the chance of a hyperfast fibre optic connection - not just those in easy to reach areas. Please visit B4RN's full pricing details here for more information.
The 1,000 Mbps service means no more buffering, however many devices you are using!
If you live in this area you could get hyperfast internet

HOW IS THE NETWORK BUILT
B4RN fibre ducting is 16 mm in diameter and where practicable is buried using a minimum-disturbance, mole-plough device, about 45cm deep.
The wayleave mapping has been worked out on the basis of maximising a ‘soft’ dig route, avoiding utility services, water supplies, drainage and in consultation with the neighbouring farming community.
Volunteers, landowners and B4RN staff route walk and organising wayleaves for the fibre ducting.
If you are a land owner and would like to discuss any wayleave questions, arrange a visit or simply have a map drawn up please get in touch with B4RN on their contact form here
